Dumpster Size Guide

Compare our 15-, 20-, 25- and 30-yard options. Start with what you are throwing away, then consider how much you have and where the dumpster will go.

A practical starting point

These examples help you compare sizes. They are not a guarantee that a particular project will fit. Material weight, bulky items and loading methods can change the size you need.

Red River branded red roll-off dumpster, 15-yard option

15-yard dumpster

405 cubic feet of nominal volume

Smaller cleanouts & focused projects

A starting point for a garage cleanout, clearing a few rooms or a smaller remodeling project.

Tell us about bulky furniture, cabinets or heavier debris before choosing.

Red River branded red roll-off dumpster, 20-yard option

20-yard dumpster

540 cubic feet of nominal volume

Larger cleanouts & remodeling

Consider this size for a larger home cleanout or kitchen and bathroom remodeling debris, depending on the scope.

More room than a 15-yard container, but weight limits still apply.

Red River branded red roll-off dumpster, 25-yard option

25-yard dumpster

675 cubic feet of nominal volume

Extra room for a growing project

An in-between option for multi-room cleanouts or larger remodeling projects when 20 yards may be tight.

Share your debris list so we can help you compare 20, 25 and 30 yards.

Red River branded red roll-off dumpster, 30-yard option

30-yard dumpster

810 cubic feet of nominal volume

Bulkier cleanouts & major renovations

Consider this option for larger property cleanouts, multi-room renovations and substantial volumes of approved debris.

A larger container does not mean an unlimited weight allowance.

Get a 30-Yard Quote

“Yards” means volume, not weight. One cubic yard is 27 cubic feet. A 30-yard dumpster has twice the nominal volume of a 15-yard dumpster, but that does not mean it can carry twice the weight. Actual dimensions, loading limits and availability must be confirmed for your order.

What are you getting rid of?

Tell us about furniture, household items, cabinets, lumber, drywall, roofing or other project debris. We will confirm what can go in your dumpster.

Concrete, brick, dirt and other dense materials need special attention. Ask before loading. Weight limits can be reached well before the container looks full.

Do not load hazardous or questionable materials without discussing disposal requirements with Red River first. Ask about paint, chemicals, batteries, tires, liquids and appliances before delivery.

Will it work at your address?

  • Share the full delivery address, not just the city.
  • Tell us about gates, slopes, narrow access, overhead wires or branches.
  • Describe your preferred placement area and its surface.
  • Check any property, HOA or local placement requirements that apply.

We will confirm coverage, placement and access details before arranging delivery.

Not sure? You do not have to guess.

Select “Not sure - help me choose” on the quote form. Tell us about the project and what you expect to throw away. You can still send your request without committing to a size.

Your quote will confirm the dumpster size, approved materials, rental period, weight allowance and charges that apply. Keep debris below the top edge and follow any lower loading limit given for your materials.
